Al Parco
Location
Al Parco is located in a very peculiar setting, namely the Grismondi-Finardi mansion house. The mansion was built as a fortified building outside the town in an ancient time, probably in the late XIV century, and later became a country manor, definitely from the XV century. It is now in the town, at the confluence of the valleys, at a short distance from the centre. It is well connected to the Upper Town, Bergamo’s historical heart, the motorway and the valleys. The surrounding Finardi district, developed in the early XIX century as a green residential area with its period houses that were built around the mansion estate, is one of the greenest and most appreciated areas in Bergamo.

Building
The building is a historical mansion house included in the Tour Dimore Storiche in Bergamo and is likely to date back to the XIV or XV century. It underwent many transformations in the course of time, the latest of which around 1855 at the hands of the architect Giacomo Bianconi, a pupil of Piermarini who designed Alla Scala theatre in Milan. After being the property of the Biava and Cornolti families, it came to be owned by the Grismondi in the XVIII century. The ancient noble Bergamask family Finardi acquired it in the mid XIX century and it’s their descendants that currently live in the mansion.
The building extends over vast areas around inner courtyards, and owes its charm to the atmosphere of times past that hangs about it, steeped as it is in the green park that softens the town noise. The portion of the mansion that is dedicated to our guests is sober and quiet, and preserves all the features of this ancient and valuable house.
Rooms
An apartment of approximately 70 sqm on the ground floor, with easy access from the outside into the living-room with an imposing XV century fireplace and a beam ceiling. From the corridor you can reach two wide bedrooms, one with double but separable bed and the other with two/three beds, and a bathroom with bathtub. The living-room has a kitchenette. Period furniture and comfortable sofas. It’s ideal for families looking for convenient and spacious accommodation.
Another small apartment is located on the first floor, in a typical mezzanine that can be reached by a short flight of stairs. It has an entrance, a small corner equipped with kitchen tools, a bedroom and bathroom with shower and a corridor that leads to a sitting area with an ancient sofa and period prints. There is also a large boxroom under the stairs. Ideal for couples, possibly with a child, or a single person.
Park/Garden
The historic park of Villa Grismondi Finardi is a true green lung for the entire area. It is a vast surface of English green, crossed by gravel footpaths. It is characterized by centuries-old trees and a romantic layout with an ancient cave hidden among the reeds and other buildings such as the old chapel, the spinning factory and a greenhouse. It is the largest garden in the city, though not far from other parks: in the adjoining Via Finardi there is a small garden with a playground for children and nearby lies Suardi park. In the garden there are tables and chairs in wrought iron, which can make a pleasant spot for relaxing in fine weather.
