Two minutes away from the funicular and the enchanting Piazza Vecchia, it is in a strategic position to reach the places of historical and architectural interest such as the Teatro Sociale, Piazza Vecchia and the Palazzo della Ragione, St. Augustin church and S. Michael church, to name but a few.

Building

You will be lodged in a mansion house dating back to the XIV and XVI centuries. Walking through a marvellous old original wooden gate, you will gain access to the privacy of an interior courtyard with a portico, a central well, a wrought iron balcony and a blown glass door. The palace has belonged for generations to one family that take pains and devote resources to the upkeep of the building. A marvellous stately staircase of stone and wrought iron, a ceiling fresco, period furniture, beam ceilings and an unparalleled view over the hills of Bergamo will steep you straight into the magic atmosphere of times past.

Rooms

The approximately 60 sqm wide apartment on the second top floor is especially bright. It is composed of two rooms and a closet. The decoration is accurate and consists of period furniture; the dining-room has a splendid view on the inner yard and the Rocca gardens; a big closet and a built-in wardrobe will allow you to stow your luggage and will leave you free to enjoy the flat. The kitchen is a self-contained unit and is fully equipped with washing mashine, dish washer, oven, crockery, pots and pans and everything you need for cooking. The double sleeping-room has a magnificent view over the hills. It is possible to add a double sofa bed or a children cot with edges in the living-room.

Park/Garden

The living-room window commands a view over the green Rocca gardens which you can reach in two minutes’ walk. In the inner yard you can enjoy the fresh portico, but if you prefer wider spaces, S. Augustin’s Park is only 5 minutes away and the nearest woodland only 15 minutes away.

How to get there

The house can be easily reached from Orio al Serio airport by no 1 bus to Città Alta. Get off at the Colle Aperto terminus and cross the centre walking towards the Città Alta funicular (5 minutes); alternatively take no 1 bus to Città Alta, get off at the lower funicular station and take the funicular up. If you have a private car, turn off the motorway at the Bergamo exit, follow the signs to Città Alta and the paying parking site in Piazza Mercato del Fieno. The house is a few hundred meters away.

The rates refer to the whole apartment for exclusive use and are not subject to seasonal variations.

Breakfast is served only on request, if the landlady’s work commitments allow.
